Schnee balls and fashion, but THANK GOD FOR ACTORS

20120617-150939.jpg
Cutesy in the most picture postcard way, the walled Medieval city of Rothenburg is an ooooh aaaagh kind of place! The floweriness is even apparent in ANRA-mode - Anett Rafoth’s collection – a successful Franconian designer.

Schnee balls (snow balls) are a donut speciality, which not being a donutty person I wasn’t too keen on! – although aesthetically, these look superior! I mean Champagne ones – I GUESS YOU HAVE TO TRY!

Rothenburg is the only place in Germany to date that I have run into American and Japanese photo hogging! So it was a soothing respite to run into Berlin actor, Jan Uplegger who will be playing in Alfred Hitchcock’s The 39 Steps at the THE TOPPLER for their summer season. This lovely tucked away city theatre is the smallest in Germany.

Potatoed out at my 1st Kartoffelstube

20120614-102007.jpg
Smashed, mashed with skin or without, potatoes and me come a long way. They’re the ultimate comfort food! Even Mr. P was intrigued enough with the idea of a potatoe pizza to stop and try! Packed with local groups of jolly elderly men uniting in almost choral like rounds of GruB Gott, the Kartoffel restaurant at The Rodertor Gasthof had a convivial homely air about it. But beware though. It’s too delicious to stop, it’s heavy and I am afraid even the most powerful of schnapps and a meeting of Oma Kartoffel wouldn’t allow for a restful sleep.
