MOTO – A fantastic first BMW Regional Conference in Panama

It was three sun-fuelled days of bikes, parties and rides. The BMW Club Panama home team was joined by clubs from Guatemala, Mexico, El Salvador and Costa Rica for a pre-Carnival Party.

The Beast was given all his dues, placed on a plinth in full touring regalia in the front entrance of the luxury Hotel Miramar Intercontinental.

Drei Tage lang Sonne, Bikes, Parties und Fahrgeschäft.  Mit der BMW Club Panama Home Team waren ausserdem noch Clubs aus Guatemala, Mexico, El Salvador und Costa Rica, für eine vor-Karnevals Party, dabei.

Der Beast wurde belohnt und in seiner Touring Ausrüstung, vor dem luxus Hotel Miramar Intercontinental auf einer Plinthe gestellt.

EVENT HIGHLIGHTS

1. Being revived by the Red Bull Panama Girls after nearly fainting in over 30° C heat at the Gatun Locks (the Pacific entrance to the Panama Canal).

Ich wurde von den Red Bull Panama Girls wiederbelebt, nach dem ich bei 30°C fast in Ohnmacht gefallen wäre, bei den Gatun Locks (beim Pazifischen Eingang zum Panama Kanal).

2. Meeting Ramona and Hebert Schwarz, founders of Touratech. Ramona is wearing G-Star RAW jeans, a Touratech t-shirt and her favourite red boots.

7. The police escorted cavalcade of motors crossing the isthmus in 45 minutes from the Pacific to the Caribbean. Now, that’s what I call riding in royal BMW style!

Die Polizei begleitete Kavalkade von Motorrädern über den Isthmus in 45 Minuten – von der Pazifik zu der Karibik. Das nenne ich BMW fahren wie ein König!

Prague makes Mr. P quite indigestible

I had been warned. Being more of a salad, sushi, sparkly kind of gal, ROBUST food and pints of beer drunk down in gulps was going to be hard.

Not only that, but you need to keep your eyes fixed on your companions when you toast as it’s terribly bad show if you don’t.

Arriving at 2.00am on Saturday in one of the party capitals of the world could have been a disaster, but Zlaty Strom a 24-hour eatery/hotel-cum-club is pretty tame and we get our first lesson in Prague etiquette – where waving down a waiter is considered obscene and smoking is allowed virtually in your plate! I LURVE! – in a sort of anarchistic way.

Although Mr. P seems rather explosive when we hit the city for the first time it has ever snowed in October, he manages to eat his way through PORK, DUMPLINGS, DUCK and CABBAGE over the ensuing days, washed down with lashings of pints of ale and stout from Prague’s renown microbreweries. With an alcohol content of 13%, X-Beer 33 in the Umedvidku Brewery is finely declared his favourite.

And for me, well…there is a rather interesting phenomenon called beer sekt, a rather moreish bitter sparkler, served with ice in a champagne saucer, which I could take a fancy too, and then of course there are restaurants like Kotleta that serve a variety of salads and have the most charming of staff.

Pulling Weight -THE BEAST

Sometimes you have to just stop and admire and then say a big thank you, to The Beast in all his GLORY, for carrying us safely, everywhere!

Standing BIGGER and taller then this wee 500, our beautiful BMW 1200 RT weighs in bare at 260kg, but fully laden with panniers, me and Mr. P, nearly half a TON! A big boy!

He does get a couple of perks though, like mucking around with boys in Italy!

The Beast leistet seinen Beitrag

Manchmal muss man einfach anhalten, bewundern und dem Prachtvollen Beast ein grosses Dankschön sagen – dass er uns sicher durch die Gegend fährt!

Neben diesem kleinen 500, steht unser wunderschöne BMV 1200 RT, der nackt 260kg wiegt, aber vollbeladen mit den Motorradkoffern und mich und Mr.P, fast eine halbe Tonne wiegt! Ein grosser Junge!

Aber eine Belohnung bekommt er schon, zum Beispiel mit den Italienischen Jungs herumalbern!
